[It's not too terribly late at night, but it's definitely sometime after intermission when the knock comes. At first it's just one knock, then it's followed by a series of knocks that grow louder until they're answered. Yes, this is exactly how we're starting off this thread; I'm only a little sorry.]

[Although he is loathe to talk to this man...Raoul has questions, and Miss D-ne had suggested he try to get them answered, so he knocks thrice, and clears his throat.]

Mister Balladeer? If I might have a word...

Mr. Baladeer, I find the nights to be a bit dour... Would it be possible to request some champagne or spirits to, well, raise our spirits, while we're stuck here? It may help people loosen up a bit.

[Ever since he arrived here, a question had hung in Seymour's head. He had tried ignoring it, but the longer he had stayed here the more he was bugged by it. Eventually Seymour had to try to get some answer.

Slowly and tentatively, he knocked on the Balladeer's door.]

Uh, Balladeer? Are you there?

[D-ne knocks lightly on the door and idly rubs around her eyes. Are you here, Mr. Balladeer?]

Balladeer, a word, if you would?

[ yes, he's back to ask for more stuff. But look, no one's gotten drunk yet! So he's a good guy. ]

[Eliza hasn't thought to approach the box office yet, hasn't felt a need to. But after her talk with Valjean earlier she feels some need to try to get to know him...or at least thank him for the cross.

She arrives at the box office close to 7 in the evening, a steaming mug of tea in her hands that smells like peppermint, and knocks twice on the door with her knuckles.]

[So. That was a shitshow. But you know what you do after a shitshow? You check on your crew. Or well, you try to. Some of these people are weirdly resistant to being his crew?? Why. Why would you do this.

The Pirate King knocks on the door later in the day, when the others are busy elsewhere. It's not like he's being secretive about visiting the Balladeer, but he'd rather not deal with questions about why he's talking to the guy, so!]

[ Hans is. Well, he's had enough time to stew that he's not angry, and he's had enough time to figure the Balladeer was just following orders, probably, but he is still quite cross with you, Mr. Balladeer.

His knock is a bit more curt than usual. ]

Balladeer? Are you in?

[ ~~I'm sorry we have so many threads.........~~ ]

[Hime has been trying to get up the nerve to knock on the box office door since yesterday. She managed it once, but ran away right after, because ding-dong-ditch is totally how we address things here. Still, early Wednesday morning, she swallows hard and shakily tries again.]

H-he... [deep breath] Where are they?

[Knock knock knock. Open the door, Balladeer, someone very much has to talk.]

[ Hans slides a note under the Balladeer's door. Is this a dumb idea? Probably. It reads: ]

Balladeer,

I'm pulling together a party in the dining hall later tonight. (No, really, this isn't some murder plot.) There will be drinks and light refreshments. If you'd like, you should stop by!

[Anna knocks and patiently waits since... well... no need to be rude. She's got a few things to talk to the Balladeer about. Hopefully he won't be mad about some of them.]

[ There's no hint of cheer or false smiles when Hans knocks on the Balladeer's door this morning. He'll be heading to the ballroom to run fake support, maybe pretend they'll be okay. That he's okay.

He's kinda not. D-ne's trial and execution made sure of that.

He knocks once, twice. Slowly. ]

Balladeer, do you have a moment?

[Naturally after everything today Seymour really wants to talk to the Balladeer.]

Balladeer? Did you really do all of this?

[He means the garden but is also kind of referring to the memories too.]

[ BALLADEER, BRO, HELP A GUY OUT. Hans knocks on his door, a little frantic. ]

Balladeer, um-- You're in right?

[ For all that Hans kept his cool at the announcement, he is. Not. Having a good time. Today. ]

[Knock knock, is anybody home? Raoul is here, and he's got...a book tucked under his arm?]

[...Knock knock!

If Balladeer opens his door, he'll see Astarte, with a teacup and teapot in hand.]

[All things considered, Billy is still absolutely not here for your feelings, buddy.

But he does have questions, so he'll knock eventually, the sound about as brisk as everything else he does. A little abrupt, a little sharp, but nothing that goes above or beyond professional courtesy.

[...It's probably high time that Billy had a chat with his facetwin, isn't it.

So after that absolute shitshow of a trial, he's going to cautiously knock at the Balladeer's door. He wouldn't be surprised if the Balladeer didn't answer - after all, he definitely wouldn't answer if it was him. But all the same.

If the Balladeer doesn't answer, Billy will leave and try again tomorrow.]

[Anna knocks on the door, and even if it doesn't open, there's a mangled slice of Hime's cake in front of it with a note that reads:

Hans is having a Halloween party. You should join us! And thank you for everything during the trial. You're a really good friend. I'll come talk to you more, okay?

[A few hours after the second trial, the Balladeer will get a knock on his door, but no one will be there once he opens the door. Instead, there is a vase full of lilies on the ground with a letter attached to it.]

Balladeer,

I just wanted to thank you again for being there for all of us. It's not much, but I remembered you saying that you liked lilies so I thought you might want some for your room.

And I don't know if you know this, but having plants around helps a lot with depression and calming yourself down.
